Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity was founded June 28, 1920 at Central Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg, MO. Sigma Tau Gamma currently has 122 chapters spread throughout the east coast and the midwest.

Timeline

June 28, 1920 Fraternity petitions CMSU president for recognition as an official organization
July 7,1920 Fraternity officially adopts the name of SIGMA TAU GAMMA
July 25, 1921 Beta chapter founded at Missouri St. Teachers College
January 20,1922 Delta chapter founded at Emporia State University
April, 1925 First Fraternity magazine, The Signet, is published
May 30, 1925 First conclave held
Summer, 1927 Third Conclave held, official magazine renamed The Saga
December, 1927 Complete line of badges and insignia adopted
1930 - 1935 No conclaves held due to Depression
Summer, 1938 Constitution liberalized to permit wider expansion
1941 - 1945 Over 400 Sig Taus serve in WWII
Summer, 1946 "Victory" Conclave held in St. Louis
May 10, 1950 Sigma Tau Gamma joins National Interfraternity Conference
October 12, 1956 Alpha Psi chapter installed at Penn State (47th)
Summer, 1962 Stan Musial extended honorary brotherhood priviledges
Fall, 1964 Beta Omega (Edinboro, PA) and Gamma Alpha (Mansfield, PA) chapters installed. Pennsylvania province becomes largest in the fraternity.
